Downtown Toronto 17th Jazz Festival

Val & Chona in the main festival tent @ the Nathan Phillip Square.

It was a pleasant night...a little on the chilly side. We arrived just in time to show our support for the downtown TO and decided to watch a great Canadian musician, David Clayton-Thomas with the Blood, Sweat & Tears.  I never knew he is from Toronto until now.  There were lots of people in Nathan Phillips Square like there is no SARS at all.  It was mostly the baby boomers who are watching...and we had the most exciting night in June.  Chona was amazed with both David and the musicians where every one of them is a great soloist.  The brass section blowed our brains out.  The guitarist, keyboardist and drummer are superb.  And we try to sing with David Clayton-Thomas while stumping and grooving our bodies to the beat.  They combined jazz, rock, blues, latin, classical and soul in their music.

Song like And When I Die, God Bless The Child, You Made Me So Very Happy and many more got us on our feet.  But Chona went crazy with the rhythm section of Spinning Wheel.

It's time to say enough to SARS and get the downtown economy back on it's feet.
We will redeem our city with our "Blood, Sweat and Tears"

Merle's 40th Birthday

We came straight from Merle's surprised 40th birthday bash the afternoon before the concert.  Merle did not have a clue that the whole Buzon Family was hiding in her home when she got back from a spa/overnight hotel stay at Sheraton in downtown Toronto.  She just broke down and cried and was in awe with the food and decorations prepared for her.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MERLE!!!
